Malaspina Land Conservancy Society held a competition for the creation of our Logo. We gave entrants the following hints toward some visual concepts to go with the work that we do:
- Natural beauty: sea, sky, mountains, coastline, rivers and streams…
- Preservation: of land, plants, and animals; of agricultural land and the traditional ways of producing food; etc.
- Strengthening community: we hope to bring people together around the shared goal of preserving the places of beauty and meaning in this part of the world
- Sustainability, environment: a land conservancy keeps parts of the local environment safe from environmental harm…
Our winning entry, judged by four respected artists and drawn from 18 designs (both local and international), was created by Stephen J. Dorsey of Nevada. Stephen’s design is simple, indicative of our location on the west coast of British Columbia, and pulls together the various elements we work with in the Society.
We thank everybody who participated in this competition. Each entry made the competition richer and the decision more difficult.
